4. Routing Management in MNP Workflows
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) introduces dynamic routing complexity for telecom operators. Routing Management does not interact directly with signaling layers. Instead, it serves as an external decision point — returning target network IDs to calling systems regardless of protocol.
The Routing Management system:
- Stores and overrides number portability mappings.
- Serves as a lightweight NPDB (Number Portability Database).
- Interfaces with real-time and batch MNP feeds, ensuring routing decisions reflect the latest portability changes.
- Acts as a central cache for querying routing targets across multiple signaling protocols.
Lookup Priority: Lookups always prioritize NetworkNumber entries (exact match) over NetworkRange (prefix match), allowing precise control for ported numbers.
