Mobius USSD Gateway
1. Introduction
The Mobius USSD Gateway is a carrier-grade service component that enables operators and MVNO/MVNE platforms to deliver real-time, session-oriented USSD services to subscribers over the mobile signaling plane. On the network side, it interfaces with the core using standards-based SS7/MAP USSD procedures (and, where applicable in LTE/5G service architectures, can interwork with USSD delivery via IMS/USSI), while on the application side it connects USSD traffic to service platforms through IP-facing integrations such as HTTP-based interfaces and SMPP-style connectivity—without requiring application developers to implement SS7/MAP behavior directly.
Conceptually, the gateway sits between telecom signaling and service logic. The network provides subscriber reachability and dialog transport; the Mobius USSD Gateway provides the session controller, routing decisions, encoding handling, and operational safeguards (timeouts, retries/fallback behavior, and structured termination). This separation keeps USSD services scalable and maintainable: applications focus on menus and business workflows, while the gateway enforces a consistent session model aligned with operator policies and mobile core expectations.
This document describes the operational model and configuration workflow of the Mobius USSD Gateway, including general gateway parameters, Virtual Network–specific configuration, menu management, global variables and templating, data consumer configuration, and statistics/monitoring views.
